CJP urges legal fraternity to dispense speedy justice

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial on Monday said that legal fraternity has a great responsibility to protect the constitution, provide cheap and speedy justice in a merit-based system.

Syed Jafar Tayar Bukhari, Vice Chairman of the Punjab Bar Council, led a ten-member delegation of Punjab Bar Council representatives to meet CJP Bandial.

CJP Bandial welcomed the delegation and appreciated the efforts of the Punjab Bar Council to ensure the availability of legal publications and journals at affordable rates to meet the needs of young lawyers.

On this, the delegation thanked the Chief Justice of Pakistan for providing an opportunity to discuss the day-to-day issues.

During the meeting, CJP emphasised the importance of quality training for lawyers through legal research, analysis, and standard courses in advocacy in all provinces. While referring to the legal community as the intellectual backbone of society, he said that the legal fraternity has a huge responsibility to protect the constitution, provide cheap and quick justice in a system based on truth and merit.
