Gabol raises objections to Imran’s nomination papers in Lyari by-polls

Candidates of different parties have submitted their nomination papers to the Returning Officers for contesting by-elections in three constituencies of Karachi—Malir, Korangi and Lyari.

The election commission has approved the nomination papers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan for NA239 Korangi by-elections.

Imran Khan also filed his nomination papers for NA 246 Lyari but Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate Nabil Gabol raised an objection saying that after the foreign funding case decision, the PTI chairman is not eligible to contest the by-elections.

PPP’s Nabil Gabol and his son Nadir Gabol have submitted their nomination papers for contesting elections from the same constituency NA 246 Lyari against PTI’s Imran Khan.

After scrutiny from the election commission, the papers of all the candidates of PPP from Lyari were declared valid.

Two other candidates of the PPP including Yousuf Baloch and Javed Naguri also filed nomination papers from this constituency.

On the other hand, the nomination papers of eight candidates including former Prime Minister Imran Khan from NA-239 Korangi were declared valid and approved.
